Richard Timothy Kretzler, a former Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 562 apprentice instructor, passed away on Dec. 21, 2023 at age 79.
Brother Kretzler, of O’Fallon, Mo., proudly served his country with honor during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He was a member of the VFW, post 3944. Following his military service, he went on to a career with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, most recently working as an apprentice instructor.
In his free time, Rich loved traveling and a good cigar. He was also a proud Democrat and a member of the North County Labor Club. Rich was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Rich is survived by his wife, Jo Kretzler; three sons, Ed Kretzler, Ken Kretzler, and Michael Kretzler; two step-sons, Jason (Clodagh) Roche and Ryan Roche; 12 grandchildren, Kaitlin (Eggy) Kretzler, Matthew Kretzler, Bailey Kretzler, Nick Kretzler, Eamonn Roche, Abby Kretzler, Shea Kretzler, Shane Roche, Addison Kretzler, Aidan Kretzler, Jack Buckley, and Clark Kretzler; and a host of other family members and friends.
A memorial service was held Dec. 29 at Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peter’s. Memorial contributions may be made in Rich’s honor to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562 Scholarship Fund, 3640 Corporate Trail Drive, Earth City, Mo. 63045, the USO or St. Patrick’s Center.
