IN MEMORIAM: Iron Workers 396’s Joseph J. Hunt III

Joseph J. Hunt III, a 34-year member of Iron Workers Local 396 and son of former Iron Workers International Union General President Joseph J. Hunt Jr., died Sept 29, 2020 at age 56.

Brother Hunt was a training specialist with the Iron Workers International Union. In addition to his father, he had several family members in the union including: his son, Joseph J. Hunt IV; his nephew James W. Hunt; and first cousins Jim Hunt, Local 396 apprenticeship coordinator, and Bob Hunt, Local 36 business manager/financial secretary treasurer.

Local 396 shared the news of his passing on its Facebook page: “We are saddened to report that brother member Joseph J. Hunt III, passed away… Please keep the Hunt family in your thoughts and prayers.”   

Brother Hunt was the beloved husband of Olga M. Hunt (nee Abell); dear father of Nicole (Tony) Nawrocki, Amelia (Kyle) Settles, Joseph J. (Stephanie) Hunt IV and Katerina (Kaiden Jones) Hunt; dear grandfather of Kayden, Joey V and Kaia; dear son of Joseph Jr. and Jan Hunt; dear brother of Barb (Eric) Pilas, Tracy Meetre and Scott (Kim) Hunt; and dear nephew, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.

A funeral service was held Oct. 1 at Kutis Funeral Home at 10151 Gravois Road in Affton. Condolences may be shared online at kutisfuneralhomes.com. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association at heart.org are appreciated.
