IN MEMORIAM: Iron Workers Local 392’s Charles Pelo

Charles T. Pelo, a second-generation and 30-year member of Iron Workers Local 392, died Jan. 30, 2021 at Mercy Hospital South. He was 77.

Brother Pelo, of Edwardsville, Ill., was a recovered alcoholic who was sober for 46 years and participated in many local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and organizations. Through the program, he helped numerous fellow alcoholics get and stay sober over the years.

He is survived by his son, Chuck (Chi) Pelo, Staunton, Ill.; stepson, Brian (Rebecca) Lane, Pensacola, Fla.; stepdaughter, Annetta (John) Veres, Cape Coral, Fla.; sister, Margaret Womble, Belleville, Ill.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Pelo; parents, Willard and Clara Pelo; and brother, Bill Pelo.
