Theodore (Ted) Kendall Jarvis, of Arnold, passed away on Dec. 4, 2023 in his home at age 61.

Ted was number 10 out of 11 children. He grew up in a tiny house in Lemay and loved to tell stories about his home, especially how the family crowded around a picnic table for dinner. Ted attended St. Martin of Tours and later he graduated from Oakville High School. His favorite childhood activity was playing hockey and hanging out with his cousins, nieces and nephews who he viewed more as siblings.

Brother Jarvis’ career began in the grocery stores. He spent several years as a meat cutter and then as a union representative for UFCW Local 88. Ted loved watching golf on TV and looked forward to retirement; he planned to spend as much time as possible playing golf. Ted enjoyed going out to eat and would frequently joke about “keeping his girlish figure.” His favorite holiday was Thanksgiving with all the traditional fixings. Ted also loved going over to his parent’s home every February to celebrate birthdays with a chicken and dumpling/pork chops and sauerkraut dinner.

Everyone who met Ted immediately felt welcomed and like they had just made a friend. Ted loved to tell stories, especially embellishing them for all the more enjoyment. He never met a stranger and was always running into someone he knew. Ted pretended to hate the occasional garage sale; he secretly loved striking up conversations with everyone who stopped by and gave away more items than he ever sold. Ted was always there for a stranger in need.

Ted is survived by his wife of 32 years Patricia (Lamprecht) Jarvis; daughter Amber Jarvis; and sons Cameron (Rebecca) Jarvis and Clayton Jarvis; seven siblings: Jean Oidtman, Robert (Brenda) Jarvis, Ronald Jarvis, Susan Boyles, Timothy Jarvis, Terrance (Pam) Jarvis, and Kelly (Michael) Markey; mother-in-law Carole Lamprecht; brother in law of Jerry (Rebecca) Lamprecht, Mary (Rich) Groszek, and Kerry (Tracy) Lamprecht.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Dorothy Jarvis, father-in-law Jerry Lamprecht, and siblings James Jarvis, Cynthia Fletcher, and Gilbert Jarvis Jr. Dear uncle, great uncle, great-great uncle, nephew, and cousin to many.

A memorial service was held Dec. 16, 2023, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road. Donations are requested to cancer research of donor’s choice.
