Steven “Steve” F. Erdelen, a member of the United Media Guild and founder of the Pro-Union St. Louis! Facebook page, passed away Sept. 13, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Brother Erdelen proudly served his country in the United States Navy and enjoyed a successful career in sales and advertising. He was passionate about his community and dedicated himself to supporting local causes, with a special focus on community development and local Pro-Union groups.

Steve enjoyed spending his time playing golf, fishing, listening to music and entertaining. He brought gatherings to life, bringing people together through jokes, poems and harmonica tunes. He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren who would light up with joy whenever they were around him. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for people, his talent for making others laugh and his simple joy in living life to the fullest.

Brother Erdelen was born Feb. 28, 1955 in St. Louis to Francis and Neva Jean (nee Rayfield) Erdelen. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ann Bonds, his brother-in-law, Bill Reiter and his brother Kevin Erdelen.

He was the loving husband of 44 years to Judy Erdelen (nee Hahn); dear father of Michael (Lauren) Erdelen, and Diane (James) Heatherly; beloved grandfather of Norah and Morgan Heatherly, and Lucas, Shane, and Nicholas Erdelen; dear brother of Diane (Tom) Burns, Christine Reiter, Kathy Erdelen, and John Erdelen; brother-in-law of Mel Bonds and Anne Erdelen; and loving cousin, uncle and dear friend of many.

Steve often rallied the community to raise funds for local food pantries. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that you consider making a donation to the Ritenour Co-Care Food Pantry in his memory.
