St. Louis – Laborers Local 110’s Volunteer Organizing Committee (VOC) spent the day March 23 handing out sleeping bags and personal care items to clientele at MoNetwork here.

MoNetwork is a recovery community center rooted in harm reduction that fights for progressive change and equity with and for people who use drugs and those with substance use disorder. It is located at 4022 S. Broadway.

Colby Erhart, Local 110 VOC leader, said the effort was part of the LIUNA Laborers Rising Program. It is designed to get current union members more active and to increase union membership by taking on challenges including job action and community engagement.

“I feel lucky to be a part of an organization that has the resources to help out and make a difference in the community,” Erhart said.

Pam Shaw, MoNetwork program director, said she was grateful for the help and donation.

“We are always in need of sleeping bags and hygiene products, and this donation will go a long way in helping our clients,” she said.
