Retired members of Laborers’ Local 42 and guests were treated to an enjoyable early season baseball game as the St. Louis Cardinals took on the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium April 14.

The record-setting game was exciting to watch as Cardinals pitcher Jaime Garcia pitched a one-hitter, beating the Brewers with a score of 7-0. Garcia struck out 13, three more than his previous career high, and caught eight of them looking at third strikes. The 13 strikeouts were the most by a Cardinals left-hander since Steve Carlton fanned 16 Phillies on May 21, 1970.

Business Manager Brandon Flinn said Laborers’ Local 42 looks forward to the annual event, allowing retirees and guests a chance to enjoy the game with friends.
