Remembering a fallen brother

St. Charles – Ameren bucket trucks lined the procession route outside Baue Funeral Home for the funeral of veteran IBEW Local 1439 lineman David Burns, 50, of Winfield, MO., who was electrocuted and died April 11 while working to restore power following a tornado and storms that hit the St. Louis area the previous evening. Burns, a father of four, had been an Ameren lineman for 26 years. Mike Walter, business manager for Local 1439, said it was a cruel irony that Burns, known for his commitment to safety and former chair of Ameren’s Safety Committee should be killed in such an accident. Burns was initiated into the IBEW as an “A” member in 1987. He transferred from Local 42 to Local 1439 in 1995.
