Veteran Labor Tribune reporter Sheri Gassaway has been named assistant editor.

“Sheri’s accomplishments, including working as Missouri Correspondent, editor of the Women of Labor section, and managing the Labor Tribune’s website and social media, and more recently editing the Drive American and Your Health columns, make her the perfect choice to serve as assistant editor,” said Editor-in-Chief Tim Rowden.

Gassaway’s coverage of Labor issues has ranged from covering the evolving nature of apprentice and pre-apprentice programs to the evolving role of women in Labor unions to in-depth reporting on the recent United Auto Workers (UAW) strike against the Big Three automakers.

“Sheri earned this position the old fashioned way – through hard work and determination,” Rowden said. “Her skills have been and will continue to be an asset to our mission of serving the Labor Movement.”

Gassaway joined the Labor Tribune in 2014 after serving as editor of the online newspaper Patch and as a correspondent for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and former Suburban Journals.
