The new contract for some 5,000 City of St. Louis employees for pay raises and new and increased benefits includes similar benefits for the trades working in the city.

The benefits for this group were negotiated by the St. Louis City Union Trades Group, which includes Stationery Engineers Local 148, Operating Engineers Local 513, Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, and IBEW Locals 1 and 4, reports Trades Group Chairman Tony Fisher, Local 148 business representative.

In addition to winning the same the 3 percent pay raise July 1, step pay increases of 1.5 percent on the anniversary of their hiring, a $2,000 bonus on July 22 and a first-time, groundbreaking paid family and medical leave for all city employees, the Trades Group also negotiated a $180 bi-weekly commuting allowance and a $14 increase in their on-call rate from $70 to $84.

A story in last week’s Labor Tribune was incomplete and did not include the critical role The Trades Group played for their affiliated locals. We apologize for the oversight.
