The Tri-County Labor Legislative Club will hold its annual Christmas party on Dec. 6 and is asking for canned food donations and gift cards to help local students.

The party will be held at the club at 10 Droste Sqaure, St. Charles, Mo. starting 4 p.m. and will include hors d’oeuvres and refreshments.

Labor Club President Joe Mueller says the club is asking attendees bring gift cards, canned food, and other non-perishables for students and families at Dardenne Elementary School in the Fort Zumwalt School District.

Mueller says Dardenne Elementary has the highest number of children in the district who participate in the free and reduced lunch and breakfast program.

“It is something that we are passionate about,” Mueller said. “The members recognize that there are people that are far less fortunate than we are, and they want to help with the children and their families, especially during the holiday season.

“The school will take any donations, but gift cards to Target, Schnucks, and Dierbergs are easy logistically, and the school administrators can use them to purchase specific needs or items for individual families.”
