YOUR LETTERS: Remembering Herb Goodrick, a strong voice for UMG employees at the Post-Dispatch

I would like to thank the Labor Tribune for recognizing the recent passing of former United Media Guild Executive Secretary Herb Goodrick.

Herb was a strong voice for newsroom and other United Media Guild employees at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on many fronts.

I had the honor and pleasure of being involved in two arbitrations that concerned employee rights outside of the workplace in terms of working on a freelance basis for other media outlets and publications.

Richard ‘Dick” Lowe and Howard Kastrinsky, of King and Ballow, the notorious union breaking law firm representing the Post-Dispatch, were no match for the team of famed Labor lawyer Barbara L. Camens and Herb.

Thanks to the tremendous work of defending newsroom employee rights, former and present journalists can supplement their income with work outside of the Post-Dispatch.
