Bricklayers Local 1 banners new South County Fairfield Inn

SOUTH COUNTY – Bricklayers Local 1 is bannering the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott here for hiring a non-union sub-contractor that pays its workers substandard wages and benefits established by Local 1 to build the new hotel. The hotel is located at 4318 Butler Hill Road near Interstate 55. The general contractor on the project is Mid America Hotels Corp., owned by John Drury. Drury also owns the new hotel. Mid America hired Milam Masonry, a Benton, Mo., non-union company, for brickwork.
