IN MEMORIAM: IBEW Local 1439’s Skip Kilman

Skip Kilman, a member of IBEW Local 1439, died Feb. 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was 67.

Brother Kilman, of Freeburg, Ill., was a troubleman for Ameren for more than 45 years and served as a shop steward for many years. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams and threw many pitches for batting practice. He loved his vacations to Las Vegas and the beaches of Florida. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Niebruegge) Kilman; a daughter, Logan (Tra Self) Sigman; a son, Kyle (Katie) Kilman; four grandchildren, Addison and Allie Sigman, and Grady and Colin Kilman; a brother, Eric (Margaret) Kilman; an uncle; an aunt; numerous cousins, nieces, and a nephew; and a dear friend, Fred Meyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Myron and Gayle (nee Foutch) Kilman; a son-in-law, Benjamin Sigman; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mel and Margie Niebruegge; and his grandparents, Hiley (Elma) Foutch and Gene (Lillian) McClean.

The family would like to send much love and gratitude to Steve and Pam Woodward, Fred and Cindy Blumberg, and the Friday Night Bullpen Supper Club group.

A funeral service was held at Feb. 11 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Freeburg, Ill. followed by burial at St. Paul Cemetery in Freeburg.
